CBI Caravan Insurance – Your 8-step checklist
With lockdown easing and the Summer season in sight, many of our caravan owners have been eagerly uncovering and dusting down their beloved tourers ready to hit the road.

In preparation for taking your tourer out of hibernation, we’ve put together an important 8-step checklist to ensure your caravan is in tip-top condition and safe to start touring again:
- Conduct a thorough check for damage. Have a good look around, both inside and out, to check for damage such as water ingress, fallen branches or vermin.
- Check your tyres pressure and age. If your tyres are more than five years old, they need to change immediately. Equally, if your tyres aren’t correctly inflated, it could affect your vehicle’s travelling stability.
- Sterilise the water system ready for use and run water through the pipes to check for leaks.
- There’s no time like the present for a Spring clean! After a lengthy hiatus, your tourer is probably in need of a good clean inside and out. Top tip: thoroughly aerate the caravan by opening all windows and doors – you’ll be thankful for it after months out of use!
- Check the voltage in your leisure battery to ensure its holding enough charge and test your road lights are working correctly. Replace the bulbs if they are dim or broken.
- Make sure you’re not carrying excess loads and going over your payload.
- Final pre-departure checks! Do you have all the essentials such as the all-important towing mirrors, electric hook up cables, and of course, toilet paper?
- Last but definitely not least is your insurance up to date? If you don’t already have cover, be sure to get in touch with us today for a free quote and peace of mind on your staycation.
As always, stay safe and happy caravanning!
